AUGUSTA – The Maine Department of Health and Human Services announced this month that Rep. Tiffany Roberts, D-South Berwick, will serve on the advisory group for MaineMOM, the Department’s new initiative serving pregnant and parenting women with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).
Roberts has been an outspoken advocate for individuals impacted by the opioid epidemic and supporting Mainers in recovery. This year, she sponsored legislation to provide grants for the treatment of pregnant women with opioid use disorder.
MaineMOM, or the Maine Maternal Opioid Model, is a five year project led by MaineCare and funded through a cooperative agreement with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI). CMMI is funding similar programs in ten states.
The advisory group will hold quarterly meetings. The first meeting was held today in Augusta.
Roberts represents District 6 in the Maine Legislature, which includes parts of the towns of North Berwick and South Berwick.
